MANIKINS

2017-2021

This is a series of fictional characters and their interactions with endless possibilities. The reduction of figurative details to abstract shapes represents a filtered interpretation, such as people’s uncertainty about themselves and their simplistic judgments towards others, especially under the impact of media and commercial systems that are Western superiority based.

Those well-dressed figures symbolize our excessive concern about how people would understand us through the way we present ourselves, including over-retouched photos on social media or social-manner-anxiety about how to wear, how to talk or how to behave.
